SR&ED Calculator FAQ

How accurate is this SR&ED calculator?

Our calculator provides estimates based on current SR&ED rates and standard eligibility rules. Actual credits may vary based on specific circumstances, expenditure limits, and detailed CRA review. For the most accurate assessment, consult with a qualified SR&ED professional.

What's the difference between CCPC and Non-CCPC?

CCPCs (Canadian-Controlled Private Corporations) receive enhanced rates of 35% refundable credits on the first $3M of expenditures, plus 15% non-refundable on excess amounts. Non-CCPCs (public companies, foreign-controlled corporations) receive 15% non-refundable credits on all eligible amounts.

Which expenses qualify for SR&ED?

Eligible expenses include salaries and wages for R&D work, materials consumed in R&D, subcontractor payments (80% eligible), third-party payments to universities/research institutions, and overhead costs using the prescribed proxy method. All work must meet the SR&ED eligibility criteria.

Do all provinces offer SR&ED credits?

Most provinces offer additional SR&ED credits that supplement federal credits. Quebec offers the highest provincial rate at 30%, while Ontario and BC offer significant credits. Some territories don't offer provincial SR&ED credits, but all businesses can claim federal credits.
